what are the figures of speech and describe them

A

alliteration - repetition of the same consonant sound
assonance - repetition of the same vowel sound

onomatopoeia - sometimes referred to as sound words, these words give an indication of the actual sound

simile - similes are the comparison between two objects / people / articles, which / that have common qualities. when the comparison is made the word ‘as or like’ are used
metaphor - a metaphor is a comparison between two similar objects / people / animals but they do not use the words like or as
personification - when something that is not human is given human qualities this form comparison is referred to as personification
