Hitler was put into prison for treason, he got lots of sympathy in prison because people didnt like how France invaded Germany, so they blamed it on the German government. While in prison Hitler wrote a book called ‘Mein Kamph’ explaining this

- His book describes jews as parasites and the greatest enemy beyond communism
- the German people were loosing faith in the Weirmar republic and the Nazi party slowly gathered popularity
- the great depression of 1929 causes huge unrest and hardship in Germany

- Hindenburg is forced to make Hitler Chancellor of Germany. .
- He creates the Enabling law which means that he can make up laws in ‘an emergency’.
- In the next 3 months all the non-Nazi partys are banned. Hitler creates the Gestapo, the secret police of the Nazis.

Hitler saw Ernst Röhm as a potential threat to his control of the army and Hitler didnt like this so he excuted Röhm and his supporters without trial.
