Hit Types Flashcards
H (Addressable box hit)
What it does: Sends the initial tags to the Digital Network Control System (DNCS) and the customer’s equipment with the services that the new or upgraded customer is subscribing to.
When to use it: Used for a new install, upgrades, and Pay-Per-View (PPV)/Credit Limit change and customer is still unable to access services.
•Non-pay: once the customer has paid their account balance by credit/debit card; send an H hit type to each device on the account.
Great for Set-top boxes and CableCARDs
IN (Initializing)
What it does: Reboots the set-top box
When to use it: Use only when the customer is not able to reboot the set-top boxes.
•Sends the guide and channel map. The hit reboots the set-top box.
DO NOT USE with CableCARDs or Motorola STBs.
PR (Parental Lock Reset)
What it does: Resets the Parental Lock and Purchase Pins to 0000
When to use it: If customer does not know the Parental Lock Personal Identification Number (PIN) or the Purchase PIN and follow the Account Security Guidelines before resetting PIN.
RF (Refresh)
What it does: Refreshes the current services on the customer’s equipment and updates the service codes that the customer is subscribed to on the equipment.
When to use it: If a customer is subscribed to a channel and receives the following message (You must subscribe to this channel) use this hit to update the customer’s access.
Great for Digital Adapters (PAR/DCI)
Balancing (Go to the Balancing Screen and hit the “Enter” key to generate a Balancing Hit to all account equipment.)
What it does: This hit transmits service “code(s)” from the Billing system updating account equipment.
When to use it: Used to update equipment after correcting a balancing issue in ICOMS.
A recently installed/upgraded customer or following balancing correction on Cable/HSD/DP services screen(s).
