Expression. Do they look ill?
Colouration. Xanthalasma, arcus senilis
What 7 observations would you take from patient?
Pulse. Resps. Spo2/etco2. Bm. Temp. Bp. 2lead/12lead as appropriate
Describe the term JACCO
Jaundice. Anaemia. Cyanosis. Clubbing. Oedema.
How would you write - and + JACCO findings?
Positive = jac tick co. Negative = small o then JACCO
Define jaundice.
Build up of bilirubin. Possible liver disease/gallstones.
Define anaemia.
Reduced RBCs
Define clubbing
Lung/heart disease
What would fluid retention be a cause of?
Possible underlying heart condition
What 8 things would you write about when obtaining a PT hx
PC, HXPC, PMHX, DHX, S/FHX, ROS (review of systems), IMP (impression), SAMPLE HX
What does SAMPLE hx mean?
SIGNS AND SYMPTOMS. Allergies. Medication. Past illness. Last meal. Events/environment
What is included in the global overview of the patient? 6
Sick or big sick? Obvious distress. Use of accessory muscles. Pallor. Cyanosis. Other obvious signs of compromise.
