Providing context behind a connotation & having a clear understanding of what you underline/notice in a text.

What is BC and AD?
Religious equivalent. BC = Before Christ and AD = Anno Domini
What is BCE/CE?
For non-religious intent. BCE = Before Commen Era and CE = Common Era.
What are the four compass directions?
NEVER EAT SOGGY WAFFLES
North (Top) East (Right) South (Bottom) West (Left)
Definition of objective
Unbiased, no opinion. Factual evidence. Not influenced by personal beliefs
Ex: Charles Allen Prosser Career Academy is on Long Avenue
Definition of subjective
Biased, not true, someone’s opinion.
Ex: Michael Jordan sucks!
Difference between primary & secondary
Primary is a personal experience while secondary is something heard by. Secondhand.
OPCVL
Origin, Purpose, Content, Value, Limitation
What is OPCVL used for?
To analyze sources, both primary and secondary, to figure out their reliability and limitations
What would you find in an Origin and Purpose statement?
I would be able to find the reason why the document was written, the audience. Then I will also find where the document is from and who originally wrote it.
What is the equator & prime meridian?
Equator (South & North) is a horizontal line
Prime meridian (East & West) is a vertical line
What is the century of 1342?
14th century
What is the century of 2000?
20 century
