What was Aragon?
- Small kingdom with less population
- They had three cortes Valencia Cataluña and Aragon
- Barcelona city was dominant above all cortes
- Barcelona center of commercial empires (export of textile)
- The ruling class was the commercial and industrial oligarchy
What was Castile
- Had war as a lifestyle and created a large class of warrior nobles
- They were very religious
- ruling class were the nobles
- Had a lot of territory, and assigned most to the nobles and the church
- Region of enormous states and very wealthy, powerful aristocracy
- Land used for sheep raising making them win lot of money (wool)
- Towns of industry and commerce
- Towns governed by Alcaldes and Regidores
Differences between Aragon and Castile
In Aragon the ruling class were the commercialists and in Castile the ruling class were the nobles.
Castile was one kingdom with one cortes while Aragon had 3 three states with each different kingdoms and cortes.
Castile economy was based on wool/sheep and agriculture and Aragon economy was based on export and commerce of textiles.
Similarities between Aragon and Castile
Either way they both had kingdoms and cortes.
Both were rich and prosperous.
Both had Musilm influence

When the crown reduced the amount of nobles (high rank), so the King and Queen could have total control over the Council of Castile.

Is when the royalty got the right to define the economic benefits of the churches in Castile.
Spanish inquisition
When in 1478 the royalty used te church and allowed themselves to dictate social norms to dictate society, allowing Isabella and Ferdinand do anything they wanted.
