Structuralism
Structuralism was the first school of psychology and focused on breaking down mental processes into the most basic components. Researchers tried to understand the basic elements of consciousness using a method known as introspection.

Edward Titchner
Edward Titchener was a prominent psychologist in the United States at an early age. Born in England in the 1860s, he moved to the states and founded the idea of structuralism, the idea that all thoughts are structured by basic elements, specifically sensations.
William Wundt
Wilhelm Wundt opened the Institute for Experimental Psychology at the University of Leipzig in Germany in 1879. This was the first laboratory dedicated to psychology, and its opening is usually thought of as the beginning of modern psychology. Indeed, Wundt is often regarded as the father of psychology.
