This ordinance provided for the rectangular land survey of the Old Northwest. Survey was completed post Revolutionary Wat and provided a systematic way to divide and distribute land to the public
The Land Ordinance of 1785
This act provided 160 acres to settlers for a fee of $18 and a guarentee of five years residence. The result was the settlement of 270 million acres or 10% of the land area of the United Staes.
1862 Homestead Act
This act allowed new western states to establish colleges
Morrill Act
This act provided the President with the power to create forest preserves by proclamation
1891 General Land Law Revision Act
This act allowed the Secretary of the Interior to manage forest preserves

This act allowed funds raised from the sale of public land in arid states to be used to construct water storage and irrigation systems

This Commission was created by President Theodore Roosevelt to propose rules for land development and management

This was the first act to provide federal protection for archeological sites and allowed for the designation of national monuments

This Administration was created to carry out experiments in populations resettlement and land reform
The Resettlement Administration
The Act, also known as the GI Bill, guaranteed home loans to veterans. The result was the rapid development of suburbs
1944, Servicemen’s Readjustment Act
This act was the largest impetus for comprehensive planning and required cities to develop comprehensive plans and provided funding for planning under Section 701 - downside communities were creating plans to collect federal funds as opposed to creating the plans to truly plan the communities.
