Mongol rule. Mongolian empire takes all of China and rebellions spread.

Agricultural economy, military and most advanced sailors.
Foreign Occupation
European power in Asia grew. Population was 300 million in 1800.
In 1800, global power shifted to the West, trade tensions.
Chinese emigration. By 1880, 100,000 Chinese in US.
1912-1977
1912 - The Republic. Civil wars, Japan invades and occupies more of China, corruption.
1949 - Communism. Cultural revolution, women’s rights and collectivised farming resulting in starvation.

Reforms. Relations with the US, one-child policy and stock markets opened.
1996
Modern China - more reforms.
1997-2005 China peg to US.
2001 - China joined WTO. 2004 - more trade agreements.
2008 - Stimulus package to avoid the economy slowing down.
2010 - Exports increased by 17.7% in December, world biggest exporter.
