When different farmers own different strips of land.
There strips could be very close or very far apart.
There were no hedges or fences.
Why did the agricultural revolution occur?
Because new farming techniques and technology improvements were such a big help to the population people adapted it.

As you had to pay to use the main roads, the money was used to improve the roads.

User the canals were cheaper than using turnpikes, so they were more popular.
They could transport fragile products like pottery and other heavy loads.
How did railways change Britain during the industrial revolution?
People could go on holiday.
People could get to work easier.
Post was delivered quicker to further places and newspapers spread.
Journey times were shorter.
But: pollution from trains, canals could freeze in the winter, dry up in the summer and couldn’t take passengers.
What was life like for children in the mills?
It was long hard work performed by such young people. The children’s welfare depended on the mill owners or the employers who didn’t care.
