What is the purpose of historical thinking?
A
Enables the readers to be critical thinkers without having to memorize facts (dates, places, etc.)

A
Sourcing, contextualization, close reading, corroberation

What is sourcing?
A
- Identify the author’s position (in history) and purpose in writing the text.
- You must also predict what the author will say before reading the text.
- check believability/trustworthiness (through genre, audience, and purpose)

What is contextualization?
A
- Use of context, background information, and historical context to better understand the text
- understand words in a larger context

What is close reading?
A
- Identify author’s claims in the texts
- words are always used deliberately

A
establish what is true by comparing documents and find their differences
