What is a closed injury?
commonly due to blunt trauma, corneoscleral wall intact
What is a open injury?
involves a full thickness wound of the corneoscleral wall
What is penetrating?
a single full thickness wound usually caused by a sharp object without an exit wound
What is perforating?
two full thickness wounds on entry and one exit
What is a laceration?
a full thickness wound produced by a tearing injury, usually as a result of a direct impact
What is a lamellar laceration?
a partial thickness laceration
What is an incised injury?
caused by a sharp object such as glass or a knife
What is conjunctival laceration?
presents with signs of inflammation, oedema, vessel dilation and neutrophil incursion.
What are the types of foreign bodies?
small forgein body (most common), large foreign body (needs significant force to enter eye) and residual FB
