Histology Spot Flashcards

Q
Explain the functions of the Efferent ductules by referring to the histological adaptations to enable it to perform its function.
A
- Facilitates the movement of spermatozoa from the seminiferous tubules to the epididymis through:
A- Creation of a flow of fluid from tubuli semineferi to the ductuli efferentes by absorption of fluid by the non-ciliated columnar cells
B- Ciliary activity of the ciliated cuboidal cells
- Contraction of the fibro-muscular layer of the wall of these tubules creates peristaltic movements from the tubuli seminiferi to the ductuli efferentes
