HISTOLOGY - ID Bone/Cartilage Flashcards
What tissue is this and what is it showing
A - perichondrium
B - Lacunae
C - Chondrocytes
A - chondrocytes
B- matrix
A - elastic fibers
B - chondrocyte
Dense regular connective tissue
Dense irregular CT
Loose CT
ID these cell types and why they are what they are
B - Osteoblast - note that it’s located along the edges of bone and/or near the matrix, near the the periosteum of endosteum
C - Osteocytes - note that osteocytes are typically centrally located, embedded in lacunae and extend spider-like processes into canaliculi (small channel/duct)
A - Osteoclasts - located along edges of bone for digestion and remodling of the bone – large because multinucleated
What bones types are these
Left = immature bone (woven)
Right = mature bone (lamellar)
Osteon with concentric lamellae (L), central core (cc) and osteocytes (O)
What tissue is this and and what are it’s labeled components?
Proximal end of long bone
a) bone
b) marrow
c) epiphyseal plate
d) bone
e) articular cartilage
What tissue is this?
