Histology Flashcards

1
Q

Arterioles

A
  • No tunica adventia
  • No internal elastic lamin
  • only a few smooth muscle layers. in the tunica media

Q

What are pericytes

A
  • Found in the capillaries
  • Are an incomplete layer of cells which complete the BM
  • Have contractile properties so can control the flow of blood into the tissues

Q

Differences between the tunica media of elastic and muscular arteries

A

Elastic arteries: have laminae of elastic fibres- squiggly
Muscular arteries : have lots of smooth muscle
Have an internal elastic lamina under the tunica intima and an external elastic lamina between the tunica media and adventia
