Histology Flashcards
Epimysium
A sheath of dense irregular connective tissue that wraps around the entire muscle.
Perimysium
Partitions of dense irregular connective tissue that extend in from the epimysium and divide the muscle into fascicles
What is the endomysium
Delicate loose CT that surrounds each individual muscle fiber. Contains capillaries and nerve fibers.
Sarcoplasm
Muscle Cell Cytoplasm
Sarcolemma
Muscle cell plasma membrane. This is different from endomyecium because it is not made of loose connective tissue
Fiber
Long cylindrical arrangement of muscle cells.
Myonuclei
Nuclei of muscle cells.
Myofibrils
Long cylindrical units that run the length of the muscle cells that make up the sacroplasm, they consist of a chain of sarcomeres.
Stirations
Alternating bands of dark and light fibers.
