A
  1. Masticatory mucosa (ectoderm): gingiva, hard palate
  2. Specialized mucosa (endoderm): dorsal tongue
  3. Oral mucosa proper (ectoderm): lining of mouth (cheeks, ventral tongue)
  4. Submucosa: connective tissue, salivary glands, adipose tissue, blood vessels and lymphatics
