Types of mucosa in the mouth?
A
- Masticatory mucosa (ectoderm): gingiva, hard palate
- Specialized mucosa (endoderm): dorsal tongue
- Oral mucosa proper (ectoderm): lining of mouth (cheeks, ventral tongue)
- Submucosa: connective tissue, salivary glands, adipose tissue, blood vessels and lymphatics

- filiform: middle, cup shape, most abundant
- fungiform, taste buds, tip of tongue
- cicumvallate: V shape, posterior, many taste buds
- foliate: not always there, taste buds
