Used to differentiate b/w ilioposas muscle tightness & rectus femoris tightness.
(+) when the knee is lower from a flexed to chest position. the knee cannot bent but remains straight or only bends slightly.
Kendall
Used to assess differences in leg length.
(+) different measurement reading b/w the legs
True: ASIS- Medial maleolus
Referred: Umbilical- Medial maleolus
Block Method: blocks underneath the higher foot
Leg Length Discrepancy
Used to evaluate strength of gluteus medius muscle
(+) when the non-weight bearing side of the hip stayed level or dips below the weight bearing side.
Can also be detected during gait when the characteristics Trendelenburg lurch is note during the stance phase
Trendelenburg
Used to assess hip flexor tightness
(+) when the knee flexed && not fully extended or an increased lumbar lordosis when the knee is forced to the table
Thomas Test
Used to assess tightness of the hamstring muscle group which may cause an increase anterior pelvic tilt (APT)
(+) wen the knee is limited to 70 degrees or better
