Elbow Tests Flashcards
Tests the integrity of the ulnar collateral ligaments (UCL) anterior & posterior; transverse ligaments.
Elbow at 0 degrees; 10 degrees w/ force to lateral aspect
Valgus Stress Test
Test for lateral epicondylitis a.k.a. tennis elbow.
Elbow flexed @ 25 degrees; ask patient to flex wrist & perform break test.
(+) sharp pain on lateral side; (+) for tennis elbow
Cozen’s Test
Tests for medial epicondylitis.
Elbow flexed @ 25 degrees w/ forearm supinated, passively take patient’s wrist into extension.
(+) pain over the medial epicondyle a.k.a. golfer’s elbow
Medial Epicondylitis Test
Tapping over the ulnar nerve running through the medial epicondyle; the olecranon process.
(+) tingling; possible pain down patients arm
Tinnel Sign
Tests for osteophytes in the joint.
Start @ 25 degrees translating the wrist laterally pushing the elbow joint medially & extending the elbow in the same motion
Valgus Extension Overload
Tests the integrity of the lateral collateral ligament (LCL).
0 & 10 degrees of flexion w/ force applied to medial aspect
