Hip Flashcards
What is #1
lateral margin of femoral head
What is #2
medial margin of femoral head
What is #3
fovea centralis
What is #4
physeal line or scar
What is the green line?
Medial margin of femoral neck
What is the purple line?
Lateral margin of femoral neck
What is the red line?
Lesser trochanter
What is the blue line?
Greater trochanter
What is the yellow line?
Floor of trochanteric fossa (looks like part of intertrochanteric crest, but is not)
What is the red line?
most lateral part of Kohler’steardrop is the medial margin of the acetabulum
What is the green line?
The superior portion of the acetabulum has the thickest cortex
What is the orange line?
Superolateral margin of the acetabulum
What is the blue line?
Inferior portion of the acetabulum
What is the purple line?
The posterior rim of the acetabulum is more lateral.
What is the yellow line?
The anterior rim of the acetabulum is more medial. (not completely seen)
What is the blue line/#3?

secondary compressive trabeculae
What is the yellow line/#2?

primary tensile trabeculae
What is the blue area/#4

Ward’s triangle is the relatively trabeculae-free area
What is the blue line/#3?

secondary compressive trabeculae
What is the dark blue line?
Kohler’s teardrop
What is the purple line?
greater trochanter
What view is this?
Frog leg
What is the light blue line?
lesser trochanter
What is the yellow line?
intertrochanteric crest
What is #1?

Gas shadows
What is #2?

Phleboliths
What is #3?

Gluteal crease
What is #4?

Gluteal folds
What is #5?

Intermuscular fat pads
What are the blue lines?

The margins of the femoral neck: solid line is more posterior margin, the dotted line is somewhat hidden by the greater trochanter and is more the anterior margin.
What is the red arrow pointing at?

The slight bump on the intertrochanteric crest is the quadratus tubercle
What is the yellow arrow pointing at?

The apparent “break” inthis portion of the acetabular margin is normal. It is the very“bottom” of the cup and is not articular surface.
What is the arrow pointing at?
nutrient (vascular) channel on the posterior femoral diaphysis
