Why should check with technician before starting prep?
Different materials require different amount of prep
What are high strength ceramic crowns?
Often bilayer
High strength ceramic crown
Aesthetic overlay
How should incisal edge be reduced?
Angle palatally - 45 degree
Place depth grooves - 2mm (heavy prep)
Join grooves
Leave interproximal areas - reduce chance iatrogenic damage
How should labial surface be prepared?
Place depth grooves (501) -1mm (in both planes)
Join depth grooves using larger chamfer bur
Overall reduction 1.5mm (allow for core and aesthetic veneer)
What is the margin for HS crown?
Chamfer
How should proximal reduction be undertaken?
Aim 5-10 degree taper
Develop proximal chamfer - reduce 1.5mm
How should palatal aspect be prepared?
Chamfer margin
Cingulum reduction - adequate clearance
How should HS crown be finished?
Microfine diamond or TC bur
Check for no undercut
Check reduction w/ index
How should HS crown be temporised?
ProTemp
What is difference between green, blue, red and yellow burs?
Green = coarse Blue = standard Red = fine Yellow = extra fine
