High Frequency Words for reading and spelling Flashcards
Students should practise saying the sounds and reading each word. Parents can support by highlighting any tricky parts of the word. E.g. in 'because', the /o/ sound is made by the letters 'au'. Parents point to the 'au' spelling and say: 'this is /o/'. Once students have mastered reading the words, they should then practise writing each word. Remember to 'say the sounds as you write the word'.
