- High cost of performances prevents people who have monetary restrictions.
- Education means that sometimes plays or opera is in a different language so some people can’t understand it.
- Social stigma prevents some from feeling comfortable to attend HC events for fear of standing out.
- Socio Economic background means that people may have never been exposed to this type of culture and therefore will likely never attend it.
What kind of people generally consume High Cultural products and why?
The upper and middle upper classes.
They generally have the money or better education to comprehend and afford these products.
How is the internet affecting the accessibility of High Culture?
Its providing people with greater access to high culture performances that are streamed and recorded online.
This is reducing the monetary barrier due to its easy online accessibility and possible translation to foreign languages using internet programmes means that people can understand it without being competent in the language.
