Battle of Coral Sea:
May 1942, the two fleets never saw each other, entirely fought using aircraft launched from carriers, Yorktown and Lexington fought, Lexington was lost. Saved Australia from Japanese invasion.

December 1907, to show the world our Navy strength. Theodore Roosevelt was President.
Battle of Normandy:
June 1944, largest amphibious assault in history. D-Day.
Battle of Midway:
June 1942, turning point of the war against Japan. US Navy cracked code.
Guadalcanal:
November 1942, Five SULLIVAN brothers were lost on USS Juneau.
Battle of Leyte Gulf:
October 1944, final blow to Japanese navy, Japan lost 26 ships. USN lost 8.
Mercury 3:
May 1961, First US manned space flight. Alan Shepard, USN, manned the flight.
Gemini 3:
March 1965, First US 2 man space flight, 3 Earth orbits, John Young, USN, manned the flight.
Apollo 11:
July 1969, First manned lunar landing, Neil Armstrong, former Naval Aviator, manned the flight.
Apollo 17:
December 1972: was the seventh and FINAL lunar landing mission. Eugene Cernan and Ronald Evans, USN.
STS-1:
April 1981: First orbital test flight of Space Shuttle. All Navy crew. 36 orbits.
