Tonic herbs definition
Herbs that improve body function, strengthen the body constitution, boost immunity, improve overall health
Tonic herbs therapeutic effect
Qi tonic, yang tonic, blood tonic, yin tonic
Qi deficiency types
Spleen qi xu: poor appetite, loose stools, lethargy, lack of energy, organ prolapse
Lung qi xu: lack of desire to speak, SOB, chronic cough, asthma, spontaneous perspiration
Heart qi xu: palpitations, chest congestion
Vital qi xu
Yang deficiency types
Kidney yang xu: aversion to cold, cold limbs, impotence, emission, infertility due to uterus coldness, frequent nighttime urination
Spleen yang xu: edema, diarrhea
Lung and Kidney yang xu: asthma, cough
Blood deficiency types
Heart blood deficiency or liver blood deficiency: sallow complexion, pale lips and nails, dizziness, blurry vision, palpitations, irregular menstruation
Yin deficiency types
Lung yin xu: dry cough, scanty phlegm, dry throat
Stomach yin xu: dry mouth, constipation, red tongue absent coating
Heart yin xu: insomnia, agitated
Liver and kidney yin xu: lower back and knees aching, hot sensation in palms and soles, tidal fever, night sweats, dry eyes
