Fulminant hepatitis MC seen in children associated with Aspirin use during viral infections but may occur without Aspirin use
A child is seen admitted for intractable vomitting and encephalopathy. On PE you see a rash on the hands and feet along with dilated pupils and minimal response to light. Labs reveal liver damage and multi-organ failure. What is the most likely diagnosis?
Reye syndrome

Clinical recovery usually within 3-16 weeks
How does viral hepatitis affect liver function tests?
- Increased ALT > increased AST (both > 500 if acute)
