Cromwell’s part in the closing (dissolution) of the Monestries was in three stages:-
1) First Cromwell was made ‘Vicar General’ by Henry VIII
2) Then as ‘Vicar General’, Cromwell sent inspectors to all the Monestries to write reports on them (Inspectors were told to focus on the problems and not to write good reports)
3) When Cromwell got all the Reports back, he passed an Act in Parliament in 1536 to close all small Monesties
