A
- Renaissance came to england in the form of humanism
- study of original classic texts
- the teaching of humanities and the basis of civilised life
- confined to the upper society and educate class
- Henry patronised this new learning and his support led to the development of a humanist circle in the reign of Henry VIII

A
- 1476 by william Caxton in Germany
- steady stream of major english texts and translations from French and Latin emerged from the press
- Henry VII used the printing press to spread propaganda justifying his succession to the throne and denouncing the rule of Richard III
