A
- Rigid social hierarchy under the King (and God).
- Stability of the empire reliant on the competency of the King and the advisors (aristocracy) surrounding him.
- Distinct social classes which were all reliant upon each other.

What were some general failures of Henry’s reign due to his character? (4)
A
- General lack of experience (particularly following the end of his minority in November 1437).
- Strong interest for pacifism (such as a willingness to give up foreign lands).
- Mental and physical weakness allowed for outside influences (such as Margaret and Richard D.O.Y) to manipulate and control his reign.
- Generous and regular use of patronage.

A
- Highly ambitious nobility.
- Crown bankrupt by 1450 (partly due to Henry’s patronage).
- The Great Slump (trade depression) affected England from the 1430’s - 1480’s.
