Hemodyalisis Flashcards
the machine acts as the___

circulatory access:
- AV shunt
- Fistula
- Graft
Temporary catheter (Ash catheter)… what’s important to know about this one?
- used for short term access while the permanent access one matures. typically used for 90 days or less.
Can we use any of the circulatory access for hemodialysis to give meds or draw blood?
NO!
VIP nursing restrictions when it comes to a fistula or any circulatory access on the arm of a hemo patient.
- No IV access on the arm
- NO blood pressures (or any constrictions on that arm.. no watch, purse carying on that side, no blouse that has elastic on that sleeve)
When you palpate the fistula, you will feel and hear what?
should it pulsate?
- feel a thrill (cat puring sensation) and hear bruit
- yes
