What is the “classic” presentation?
The pt will recover some LOA but not all - due to contusion
Patients c/o headache
N & V
Sensorium changes
Other neurological changes
Focal presentation
Seizures
Signs of increased ICP
SUBDURAL HEMATOMA
What would the pt hx be?
How does it work?
What’s the cause?
loss of consciousness
There is gradual deterioration with focal manifestations & presentation of rising ICP
a collection of blood bewteen the dura mater & arachnoid mater in brain
vascular tears - contusions - usually due to trivial/forgotten trauma
Rupture of small cortical arteries and veins

What are the signs of increased ICP?
What are the 3 different types (time difference)?
Loss of consciousness without lucid period & gradual deterioration
May develop in
LESS then 24 hours (acute)
2 to 14 days (sub-acute)
2 weeks to months (chronic), before the
patient becomes symptomatic
