anti-IF antibiodies + low B12+ high serum methylmalonic acid (MMA)
Warm vs cold autoimmune hemolytic disease
Warm- coombs positive because it is caused by IgG.
primary or secondary. (secondary to penicillins, cephalosporins, NSAIDS, lupus)
Cold- Coombs negative because it is caused by IgM (secondary to mycoplasma and EBV)
Fanconi anemia symptoms
- usually occurs at 8 to 9 years old
- macrocytic anemia (can have pancytopenia)
- Absent thumbs, abnormal radii, microcephaly, short stature, cafe-au-lait spots, and renal anomalies
red cell aplasia workup
parvovirus 19, EBV and CMV
diamond blackfan anemia
- macrocytic anemia
- usually presents at < 1 year old
- thumb abnormalities, short stature, renal anomalies, glaucoma, hypogonadism, webbed neck, congenital heart disease and intellectual disability
Type of bleeding seen by syndrome group:
1) platelet deficiency and platelet disorder
2) vasculitis
3) coagulation disorders
1) petechiae, ecchymosis and mucocutaneous bleeding
2) palpable purpura
3) deep tissue bleeding
Treatment for hemophilia A
1) mild disease DDAVP ( released stored factor 8 from endothelial cells)
2) moderate to severe disease: factor 8 concentrate
