Q

Describe latent heat

A

Phase change
E.g. Evaporation- heat energy is stored
E.g. Condensation- clouds form, latent energy released

Q

How/why/when do we see a rainbow?

A

Ray of sunlight hits water droplet at a certain angle, different colours that make up the beam is separated.
It is an optical illusion

Q

Why is the sky blue?

A

Blue and violet are just the right size to be absorbed by nitrogen gase is the Tmoshere, then reflected again

Q

Why is the sky orange/red at sunrise/sunset?

A

Sun is going to be at low angle therefore more atmosphere to go through. Longer waves get refracted off particles in air e.g. Pollution and dust
Best sunsets: Antarctica, big cities, desert, sea
