Q

How does faulting occur?

A

Pressure is applied to rocks that are too rigid to fold, so the rocks crack
Break along faults/fault lines
Faults are simply cracks in the crust
Types of pressure determines the type of fault

2 plates slide past each other horizontally
Fault often becomes a valley with river passing through
Earthquakes are common here
