Anorexia
Oliguria
What sided heart failure causes peripheral and pulmonaryoedema
Peripheral -> right
Pulmonary -> left
What are the clinical features of left sided heart failure
Fatigue
Pulmonary oedema
Orthoponea
Tachycardia & tachyponea
Weakness
Confusion
SOB (exertional)
Cyanosis
3rd heart sound
What is the difference in definitions between right and left sided heart failure
Right sided
RV can’t pump as well so fluid and blood backs up in the IVC and therfore in the tissues that were draining into the IVC
Left sided
LV can’t pump as weel so blood and fluid leaks back into the lungs
A 3rd heart sound is a sign of which sided heart failure
Left
Which type of heart failure is a mix of both right and left sided
Congestive heart failure
A decreased pumping ability of which heart chambers cause right and left sided heart failure
Right -> RV
Left -> LV
What are the causes of right and left heart failure
Right
Decreased CO
Pulmonary congestion (left heart failure)
Left
Congestion of peripheral tissues (right heart failure)
Right heart failure can cause left heart failure and vice versa
Where does fluid retention occur in right and left heart failure
Right
Abdomen -> ascites
Left
Lungs
Where does back flow occur in right and left sided heart failure
Right -> IVC
Left -> Pulmonary veins
