heart Failure Flashcards
Types of heart failure
Heart failure with reduced ejection fraction <40%
Heart failure with preserved ejection fractiom >50%
Acute decompensated heart failure
Ejection fraction is
End diastolic volume-end systolic volume/end diastolic volume
Four types of acute decompensated heart failure
Mild to moderate
Hypertensive ADHF
acute pulmonary edema
Cardiogenic shock
Heart failure with reduced ef in layman language
Systolic heart failure
Define heart failure
Complex clinical sx resulting from structural or functional impairment or ventriculae filling or ejection of blood
Stages of heart failure
Stage A - No structural cardiac impairment / no symptoms
Stage B-nonsymptoms/structural impairment
Stage C-Symptomatic/structural impairment
StageD- refractory heart failure
NYHA class bases symptoms
Class1-no symptoms/no limitation of ordinary activity
Class2- ordinary physical activity results in mild symptoms
Class3- marked limitation of physical activity
Class 4-severe limitation( dyspnic at rest)
Cause for HF Reduced EF
Coronary heart disease (70%)
Non ischemic dilated cardiomyopathy
COPD/Cor pulmonale
Valvular heart disease (chronic pressure/ volume overload)
Chronic tachy and brady arrhythmias
HF with preserved ejection fraction
Hypertension
Restrictive cardiomyopathy
Chronic constrictive pericarditis
Hypertrophic cardiomathy
In systolic failure
LV»RV
Heart that cannot contract adequately will also have
Relaxing problem
Systolic issue will have diastolic issue
Diastolic issue can be pure without
Systolic issue
Filling issues maximum in
Right»_space;left
Heart failure with preserved ejection fraction common in
Obesity
Elderly females
Obstructive sleep apnea
Anemia
CKD
Atrial fibrillation
The risk factorequally associated with REF and PEF
