What does a long PRI indicate ?
heart block
What is this rhythm ?
1. prolonged pri that’s always the same length throughout the strip
2. regular
3. one p-wave for every narrow qrs
first degree heart block
What is this rhythm ?
1. prolonged pri that becomes progressively longer (with p-waves that are the same size) until the PR drops
2. may have more p-waves than qrs
3. normal/narrow qrs
second degree heart block type 1
What is this rhythm ?
1. prolonged pri that doesn’t get progressively longer
2. consistent pri when present
3. may have more p-waves than qrs
second degree heart block type 2
What is this rhythm ?
1. absent pri (may look really long) or p-wave buried in qrs
2. may have more p-waves than qrs
3. slow heart rate
4. same r to r throughout
5. no relationship between p-waves and qrs
6. no such thing as a gradually shortening pri, so may be a third degree heart block if you see this
third degree heart block
What is a PR drop ?
one p-wave followed by a missing beat then it returns to the previous rhythm with the same gradual change
