R 3rd costal cartilage 1cm from sternal border to L 2nd intercostal space 2.5cm from sternal border
lower border of heart?
6th costal cartilage 1cm from sternal border to 5th intercostal space at mid clavicular line
where is auscultation of the pulmonary valve?
left 2nd ICS just medial to midclavicular line
where is auscultation of the aortic valve?
R 2nd ICS near sternal border
where is auscultation of the mitral valve?
L 5th ICS medial to midclavicular line (at apex)
where is auscultation of the tricuspid valve?
L 5th costosternal border
what are the surface markings for the lung apexes?
above medial 1/3 of clavicle
where is the surface marking of aortic arch
sternal angle (level of T4)

patients medial wrist
how to palpate for heaves
put palm flat on chest wall verticallly
how to palpate for thrills
put palpate on chest wall over position of valves - horizontally

outline of anterior pleura

then curves to 8th rib mid clav line
outline of posterior pleura
just below and lateral to C7 spine - L1
then out to 10th rib (costal margin ) at mid axillary line
