Heart and great vessel Flashcards
location of heart
mediastinum
Pericardium tissue layers
1) visceral - intimate contact w/ heart
2) parietal - sandwiched in the middle
3) fibrous- strong tissue layer
blood flow through heart
IN superior vena cava, tricuspid valve, right ventricle, pulmonary valve, pulmonary artery OUT TO LUNGS
IN Pulmonary vein, left atrium, mitral valve, left ventricle, aortic valve, aorta OUT
Cardiac cycle
two area contract = ventricles relax (diastole)
ventricles contract (systole) = aorta relax
valves
between atria and ventricles
one way blood flow - close preventing backflow
Blood flow thru heart valves
R atrium - TRICUSPID VALVE - R Ventic
L atrium- MITRAL VALVE- L Ventric
R Ventr- PULMONARY SEMILUNAR VALVE- Pulm art
L ventricle - AORTIC SEMILUN. VALVE- Aorta
Ventr. Diastole
Right AV (tricusp.) valve- open
Left AV (mitral) - open
Aortic semilunar - closed
Pulm. semilunar - closed
Ventr Systole
Right AV (tricusp.) valve- closed
Left AV (mitral) - closed
Aortic semilunar - open
Pulm. semilunar - open
Conduction system
1) sinoatrial node - pacemaker of heart
2) atrioventricular node - electrical conduction connects + sends signal
3) AV bundle - sends elect. signal
4) right and left bundle branches (to R and L vent.)
5) purkinje fibres - distribute to muscle tissue, ensure depolarization
