Heart and EKG Flashcards
what two pathways does the circulation of blood happen ?
systemic and pulmonary circulation
what does systemic circulation consist of?
arteries
arterioles
capillaries
venules and veins as a whole
what does pulmonary circulation consist of ?
arteries
arterioles
capillaries
venules
and veins going to, within, and coming from the lungs
what does the hearts own electrical conduction system do ?
the ecs’ keeps the hearts cardiac muscle contracting and blood flowing
the electricity can be mapped and analyzed to detect heart issues using a electrocardiogram ( EKG)
where is the electrical impulse generated ?
it is generated by the sinoatrial (SA ) node. also called the pacemaker of the heart.
From the SA node , where does the impulse travel to ?
it travels to the atrioventicular node, which is also called the gatekeeper
what is the pacemaker of the heart ?
sinoatrial node ( SA) Node
what is the gatekeeper of the heart ?
the atrioventricular node
from the AV node where does the impulse travel next ?
it travels to the bundle of “His” and through the bundle branches located in the ventricular septum
Finally where does the impulses travel to ?
the electrical impulses reaches the purkinje fibers. the fibers will cause the ventricles to contract and pump blood into the pulmonary artery and aorta . this entire process is called the cardiac cycle
