Q

Adaptions of the aveolus

A

alveoli have very large surface area to provide maximum diffusion of gases

Each alveolus is surrounded by a network of capillaries near the surface. This means faster rate of diffusion

The alveoli have thin moist walls one cell thick. This provides a short diffusion pathway for gases.
