Heart Flashcards
Pulmonary arteries
Carry deoxygenated blood to the lungs.
Semilnuar Valves
Prevent blood running back into the ventricles when pressure falls during relaxation
Vena Cava
the main vein of the body; returns deoxygenated blood from the head and lower body to the right atrium
right atrium
receives deoxygenated blood from the vena cava . The pacemaker is found in the wall of the right atrium
tricuspid valve
prevent blood flowing back frim ventricle to atrium during contraction
Carotid artery
Carries oxygenated blood to the head, particularly to the brain
Pulmonary vein
Vessel that carries oxygenated blood. It has the highest oxygen and lowest carbon dioxide concentration in the circulation
Aorta
The main artery of the body supplies oxygenated blood at high pressure , to the organs at high pressure , to the organs and tissues of the body
Hepatic artery
Carries oxygenated blood to liver
Renal artery
Carries blood containing variable amounts of the absorbed products of digestion from the digestive system of digestion
Capillaries
Link arteries and veins
Prevent in all organs and tissues and are the site of exchange of materials between blood and tissue fluid
One cell thick
Why small organisms have different system as large organisms such as humans
Large complex organisms, such as humans have a small surface are in relation to their relatively large volume
