Heamodynamics Flashcards
Arteries are also called
Resistance vessels
Veins are also called
Capacitance vessels
Onchotic pressure is exerted by
- Albumin
- Immunoglobulin
At arteriolar end
Filtration occurs
At mid capillary
No net filtration occurs
At the Venous end
Reabsorption occurs
Accumulation of fluid in the intestitum
Oedema
Accumulation of fluid in the serial cavities
Effusion
Hyperemia
This is an active process because the vasodilation occurs for the condition to be seen
Congestion
It’s a passive process because the affected cells did not partake in the reduction of the blood .
Haematoma
Bleeding into soft tissues
Petechiae
Pinpoint haemorrhage on the skin
Purpura
Superficial haemorrhage usually larger than petechiae
Echymoses
Large superficial haemorrhage
Mural thrombi
Occurs in the Chambers as a result if cardiac arythmias
Vegetations
Occur in the valves of the heart
Pulmonary embolism
It is the most common type of embolism
Pulmonary embolism
Ir usually affects the right side of the heart.
Infarction
Death of a tissue resulting from lack of blood due to a block
In infarction
There’s an occlusion of venous drainage or arterial supply leading to ischaemic necrosis
Red infarcts
- Occurs in tissues with collateral circulation.
- Occurs due to venous blockade
- Occurs in tissues with spongy parenchyma
Bland infarcts
They are not infected
