Indemnity Plans. Patient pays full bill then files a claim.
Fee for service plans
Set fee to participate in the plan, usualy pay per month and deducted through paycheck
Premium
Amount you must pay out of your own pocket before your plan will contribute toward your health care costs
Deductible
Most affordable healthcare plans, use providers within network, monthly fee
Health Maintenance Organization (HMO)
Allowed to go outside the network without approval, fee-for-service plan, may be excluded for certain medical conditions
Point of Service Plan (POS)
Offers most choices, can choose any provider, pay lower deductables
Preferred Provider Organization (PPO)
Ran by federal government, those 65 and older, or with long term disabilities
Medicare
Provides inpatient care, financed by social security payroll tax

Outpatient doctor visits, medical equipment
Medicare Part B
Package plan, HMOS, PPOS, private
Medicare Part C
Covers prescriptions, must have either A or B, medicare approved drug plan

State level, assistance to the needy
