Describe the treatment of C. diff

STOP THE ANTIBIOTICS PREDISPOSING TO C difficile (if possible)!
If symptomatic, treatment options:
– Oral metronidazole
– Oral vancomycin - if severe or failure to improve on metronidazole
– Oral fidaxomicin – new drug available which reduces the risk of C difficile recurrence
N.B. DO NOT TREAT IF SYMPTOM FREE!
