Developmental vulnerability
Rapid and cumulative physical and emaotional changes in chilhood have a high potential for impact from illness, injury, or disruptive family and social circumstances
Dependency
Children’s special circumstances that require adults, parents, school officials, caregivers, etc, to recognize and respond to their health needs, seek health care services on thier behalf, authorize treatment, and comply with recommended treatment regimens
New morbidities
Drug and alcohol abuse, family and neighborhood violence, emotional disorders, and learning problems from which older generations do not suffer
Mental health system
Composed of two subsystems: one primarily for individuals with insurance coverage or private funds and the other for those without coverage
Opportunistic Infections
Persons with few CD4 cells are more likely to get these.
Medicaid Waiver Program
Where states may provide packages of services to those within a specific population like disabled or with HIV
