What are some of the principles of the Surveying Safely GN?
The “safe person” concept means that each individual assumes responsibility for their own, their colleagues and others health and safety whilst at work. There are also “organisational responsibilities which include training, information equipment and safe systems at work
What are Christie & Cos guidelines/protocols relating to health and safety?
The Health & Safety policy sets out the responsibilities of the company, such as appropriate training, provision of PPE when necessary, provision and maintenance of safe plant and equipment, as well as responsibilities of individual employees, such as following safety systems, only using equipment for its intended use and to take reasonable care of their own health and safety.
What are the provisions of the Health & Safety Act 1974?
Duty of the employer to ensure health safety and welfare of all employees. Must report accidents and injuries, must undertake, record and review risk assessments regularly.
What is a risk assessment?
Identifying any potential hazards and evaluating the risk associated with them
The viewing for the development site in vauxhall, what did you have to do when you got to site?
I had to sign the site visitors book, providing my name, company, number and time of visit.
Why do you have to sign a site visitors book?
This is to ensure that the site manager has a record of all people on site at any given time in the event of an emergency
What PPE did you wear when you had your inspection at the vauxhall development site?
Hard hat, high visibility vest, safety shoes and gloves
Generally, what would you do to ensure health and safety on inspections?
I would tell my colleagues where i am going, what time i would be expected there and back, take a fully charged mobile. If i was not back on time and i couldnt be reached, my colleagues would know where and when i had been at an inspection.
- What is asbestos and whose responsibility is it to maintain it?
Asbestos is an insulating material used in construction mostly in the 1980s. It contains toxic fibres that can be fatal if inhaled. If it is contained or managed it cant cause harm. It is generally the responsibility of the tenant if occupied or the landlord if vacant
