Detection of a disease in early preclinical stage in order to cure, prevent or lessen symptomatology

Screening
What is the criteria for screening?
Wilson’s criteria

Illlness- important, natural history understood, pre symptomatic phase
Test- easy, acceptable, cost effective, sensitive and specific
Treatment- acceptable, cost effective, better outcomes if treated early
