what is it
This act is under pinned by two main principles: enabling patients to have more control over the car they receive and that those responsible for partient care- the doctors,nurses and others who work in the nhs and social care have the freedom and power to commission care that meets the local needs

-Clinicians put in charge of ‘commissioning’ services for patients

Established the Clinical Commissioning Group which are responsible for purchasing services for Local Authorities

“No decision about me without me” is the guiding principle and patients are able to chose their own GP, practitioner etc.

Intended to empower patients and give a new emphasis on public health prevention (e.g. stop smoking, breast screenings, vaccinations)
