- A Construction Skills Certification Scheme Card
- Provides proof that an individual working on construction sites has the appropriate skills and qualifications for the job they do
- By ensuring the workforce is appropriately qualified, the card plays a part in improving standards.
- What does PPE stand for?

- Can you give some examples of PPE.
Hard hat, hi viz coat or vest, gloves, boots with toe protection, ear defenders, glasses
- A member of the public has been injured by work activities and taken to hospital for treatment. What should happen next?
The accident should be reported to the HSE by the responsible person.
- The site has been issued with a prohibition notice, what does this mean?
This usually requires a site to stop a particular activity right away. The site must not resume this activity until action has been taken to remove or control the risk.
- What should you do first if you find an injured person on site?
- Assess the situation, do not put yourself in danger
- Raise the alarm and call for help
- There has been a serious incident on site. When should an automated external defibrillator AED be used?
If someone has gone into cardiac arrest. But it should only be used by someone who is trained to do so.
- What does RAMS stand for?
Risk Assessment and Method Statement
- What is a method statement?
This is a detailed plan of how the works will be carried out safely and should identify and hazards resources such as plant, materials and people.
- What is meant by risk assessment?
A risk assessment is identifying a hazard, measuring the risk and identifying a method of eliminating, mitigation or managing the risk.
- What is the hierarchy of H & S risk control?
- What do you do if you find asbestos on site?
- Stop work immediately and ensure the area is safe (restrict access)
- Report it to the site manager. They may be required to notify the HSE.
- The asbestos will need to be tested by a competent contractor and dealt with taken of site or encapsulated.
